PCB brings full match officials' technology to PSL 10 for the first time
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the complete implementation of Match Officials' Technology (MOT) for the 10th season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). This marks an important step towards adopting advanced technological solutions for match officiation in this significant chapter of the league’s history. From April 11 onwards, PSL Season 10 will include 34 games spread out among four stadiums, beginning with a face-off between Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The finale will take place at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, where 13 fixtures—comprising both eliminators as well as the grand finale—are scheduled. According to the PCB statement, PSL X aims to meet international benchmarks through state-of-the-art technology such as automatic no-ball recognition systems, Decision Review System (DRS), inning duration clocks, and instantaneous multiple angle replay capabilities. Referees will utilize portable devices for immediate record-keeping decisions, supported by Hawk-Eye professionals stationed at each venue location. For the very first time, ball-by-ball tracking mechanisms for maintaining pace rates during play sessions shall be made accessible instantly to spectators and participating clubs alike. Fans tuning into live coverage should anticipate seeing dynamic features like active DRS visuals alongside timing indicators displayed directly onto field boards and broadcast streams. In his remarks regarding these developments, PSL Chief Executive Officer Salman Naseer highlighted their transformative potential stating, "By integrating MOT protocols we ensure greater clarity and impartiality thereby boosting precision levels along with overall viewer engagement."
