Samsung Adds Nigerian Languages to Galaxy Devices, Honoring Cultural Diversity
This capability, currently accessible on the Galaxy S25, A56, A36, and A26 models, underscores Samsung’s dedication to providing cutting-edge technology that resonates with its user base.
Thanks to this revolutionary update, Samsung users throughout Nigeria can now operate their smartphones in their chosen local languages, thereby enhancing accessibility and preserving our cultural legacy.
A Festival of Tradition and Innovation
To celebrate the launch, Samsung organized a culturally themed press conference with traditional music, local dishes, and an exhibition highlighting the device’s new language capabilities. Staff members and attendees dressed up in traditional Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa attire, honoring Nigeria’s vibrant multicultural heritage.
Samsung has also revealed intentions to broaden local language options across additional devices in the coming months, underscoring its commitment to enhancing accessibility of technology for African consumers.
Empowering Users Through Language
Samsung's incorporation of Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba languages into their devices showcases their commitment to closing the digital divide and improving user interaction. At the press event, Oge Maduagwu, who leads marketing for Samsung Electronics West Africa, stated, "We at Samsung believe that technology truly shines when everyone can access it."
By integrating Nigeria’s indigenous languages into our devices, we make them more user-friendly and relevant, guaranteeing that millions of Nigerians can engage with their smartphones using the language they prefer and comprehend most.
Smooth Language Switching on Samsung Galaxy Devices
Stephen Okwara, who leads Product Management at Samsung Electronics West Africa, mentioned, "This newly introduced local language option aims to provide a smooth user experience, enabling customers to effortlessly toggle between different languages. To enable Hausa, Igbo, or Yoruba on the Galaxy S25, A26, A36, and A56 models, go to: Settings > Language & Input > Choose Language."
"This update improves smartphone usability, especially for individuals who favor their native languages over English, thereby promoting broader digital inclusion, boosting digital literacy, and motivating more users to interact with technology using their own languages," he stated.
