Embrace Technology, Not Fear Hardship — Government Tells Youths

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, has advised Nigerian youth to cease fretting over difficulties and instead capitalize on the numerous opportunities within the tech sector to secure financial independence and establish a strong foundation for their futures.

On Monday, he delivered a speech in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the opening of an ICT center in Egbaland that he had contributed to.

The hub was constructed by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

In addition to the ICT hub, a library and an administrative building presented by Ogun West Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) were officially opened at the newly established Abeokuta City Hall Complex.

The Minister, reflecting on his own upbringing in Abeokuta, pointed out the absence of Information and Communication Technology resources that would allow gifted young people to broaden their perspectives.

He mentioned that the new facility was established to fill the void and provide a platform for young people to unleash their creativity and showcase their abilities.

Tijani revealed that 30 of these facilities have already been constructed nationwide and will be inaugurated within the coming two months.

Consequently, he urged the young person to stay dedicated and not lose heart, mentioning that numerous job prospects await in the tech industry.

“If you inquire from someone working in tech, the starting salary typically ranges from ₦350,000 to ₦500,000,” he noted. “Given how lucrative technology can be, rather than fretting over challenges, individuals should leverage resources such as these centers, equip themselves with knowledge, and seize the myriad opportunities available worldwide.”

In his comments, Alake and the Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, praised the Minister for donating the equipment.

The traditional leaders encouraged other Egba people both within the country and overseas to follow the example set by the Minister and utilize their connections and networks for the continued progress of Egbaland and the state as a whole.
