Farewell Plastic Bags: UK Airport Revamps Liquid Rules in Major Shift

For passengers receiving a significant enhancement, those who fly out will benefit from Gatwick will no longer have to take out electronic devices or place their beverages in plastic bags.

Airport authorities have announced that travelers are now permitted to keep liquids and devices like laptops in their carry-on bags when passing through security checkpoints.

The airport stated that this was a component of their initiative to 'overhaul' Gatwick's security screening procedures.

Cyrus Dana, who leads security operations at Gatwick, stated: "Over 95 percent of travelers currently go through the security screening process." London Reach Gatwick in less than five minutes.

This represents an improvement, as the scanners enable our travelers to navigate the airport with greater convenience.

'As we continue to grow, our top priority is the safety of our passengers and the security of the airport.

'With this advanced technology, we guarantee a secure and reliable journey for our travelers.'

Nevertheless, even though travelers won’t have to place their liquids in a plastic bag anymore, these items must remain below 100ml in volume.

Liquids include products such as creams, gels, sprays, pastes and aerosols.

A Gatwick spokesperson also warned passengers that other airports around the world may not have adopted the new technology.

They said: 'Therefore, the one-litre clear plastic bag rule and 100ml liquid container limit may still apply when returning from other destinations.'

Gatwick isn't the first UK airport to introduce the new rules.

Birmingham, Bristol, Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford, Luton, Newcastle, Southend, and Teesside have already implemented the updated regulations.
