Morocco's GITEX Africa: Driving Innovation and Digital Growth Across the Continent

GITEX Africa Morocco is yielding substantial advantages and increased value for local ecosystems, establishing Morocco as a crucial hub for innovation, according to Mohammed Drissi Melyani, the Director General of the Digital Development Agency (ADD), who spoke on Friday in Rabat.

As stated by the official, "84% of participants indicated they want to create or grow their business footprint in Morocco and across Africa due to the relationships formed at this gathering," noted Mohammed Drissi Melyani during a media briefing focused on unveiling details about GITEX Africa. The expo is scheduled to occur from April 14th through April 16th in Marrakesh. This shows how effectively such events can yield practical advantages for regional economic environments, he added.

The quantifiable effects of past iterations of GITEX Africa Morocco underscore the tangible impact of the event on both the Moroccan and broader African digital landscapes. They vividly demonstrate the excitement it has sparked from its beginning. According to his viewpoint, this achievement mirrors an innovative and aspirational Africa—a continent that not only undergoes digital change but also molds it, leading rather than merely following technological advancements.

For the third edition, more than 1,500 exhibitors, 800 start-ups, 350 investors, and 400 international speakers from over 130 countries will gather in Marrakesh," stated the ADD Director General. The event will feature accredited training sessions and delve into new topics, serving as a forum for discussions, debates, and South-South collaboration aimed at fostering inclusive innovation.

The anticipated involvement of Morocco in this edition is deemed to be both ambitious and strategically planned, as he pointed out, highlighting the role of the "Morocco 200" program. He explained that this scheme, enhanced by a preliminary boot camp, seeks to thrust Moroccan innovation into the international spotlight.

He added that the E-Gov space, coordinated by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and the ADD, will bring together more than 25 ministerial departments in a 500 m² pavilion to showcase a hundred digital services and solutions.

The pavilion seeks to clearly showcase the strong dedication and steady engagement of Morocco’s public administration system towards transforming, modernizing, innovating, and bringing public services nearer to both users and citizens, as he wrapped up his statement.
